What's Goin' Down(town) IV

If you weren't already aware, portions of Calhoun Street downtown are being changed to two-way traffic to match the rest of the street and to make it easier to navigate downtown. The image above shows a rendering of what a section of Calhoun is planned to look like. Sidewalks will be scaled back on both sides of the streets as part of the changes and new trees and public furniture will also be installed.

Construction will start around July 23rd after the Three Rivers Festival and will continue through to December. Expect more information and images of the project as it becomes more finalized.

Hmmm... I love the two-way streets, but the street/sidewalk pattern looks a little dated, no? 45 deg. patterning?! Hmmm... They have a different rendering on their website, but I can't quite make out what's going on. Do you have access to any other renderings?

I have access, but can't quite post the detailed drawings right now because they're not finalized.

There really isn't much sidewalk to remove along Calhoun. I'm worried that they're going to diminish what is probably the most highly regarded pedestrian block in all of downtown...
