Groundbreaking marks neighborhood revival

"Renaissance Pointe, a 36-block area bounded by Hanna Street, Creighton Avenue, South Anthony Boulevard and Pontiac Street, will also have new street lighting and streetscape enhancements, stormwater upgrades and other infrastructure improvements. As many as 100 existing homes will be renovated. Total investment is estimated to top $70 million."

"Perhaps best of all, the private sector is engaged. Delagrange Homes, Ideal Builders and Lancia Homes, working with master developer Mansur Real Estate Services, have designed market-rate homes that fit the architectural style of existing neighborhood homes. National City Bank is financing $900,000 of investment in model homes and the high-concept Smart/Green home."

"Located about one mile from the heart of downtown, Renaissance Pointe is perfectly poised to take advantage of the excitement of a reinvigorated downtown offering dining, shopping, culture and entertainment."

"A new greenway trail and a new, $7 million state-of-the-art YMCA will provide excellent resources for fitness and wellness."

"Renaissance Pointe was formerly known as the Hanna-Creighton neighborhood. Hanna-Creighton has experienced challenges over time, but in recent years, several promising developments have brought hope back to the neighborhood. Zion Lutheran Church and Saint Peter’s Catholic Church worked together to revitalize homes. The Fort Wayne Urban League, the Allen County Public Library’s Pontiac Branch and CANI Head Start relocated to a new $9 million campus at the corner of Hanna and Creighton. More than 100 new street trees were added to the neighborhood while many abandoned, dilapidated houses were demolished."

just like all the others. to artificialy boost property tax rolls. wow! 1000 homes demolished, by neighborcode code nazis.
so if you buy a 150,000 home in a low rent area, surrounded by $50,000 and less crack houses, how much is your new home worht? not to mention 150 yr old infrastructure?
boy! just like the jeffesons! WE'RE MOVIN ON UP! TO THE SOUTH SIDE! TO A DELUXE MANSION IN THE SKY! WE'RE MOVIN ON UP! TO THE SOUTH SIDE! WE FINALLY GOT A PIECE OF THE PIE!
till the creative financing; sub-prime mortgage bubble bursts...
then a lot more poor black folks will be left twisting in the wind again...oops- bad metaphor; but you get the drift..
