From the article:
"Purchasing the property will save the city money when building a parking garage there, Leatherman said. The parking garage would have needed to be “L”-shaped around the restaurant, costing more than a rectangular-shaped garage."
"Rogers declined comment when reached this morning, preferring to wait until the deal is complete. The main sign at his restaurant Monday read simply, “Closed thank you.” Small signs taped to the entrances read, “Thank you to all our customers and friends. We will miss you all. Please support Harrison Square, it needs you to succeed.”"
"“It has something to do with his future plans,” Leatherman said. “He was very intent on doing this as quickly as possible.”"

So typical of this entire project... No transparency. Announce the purchase one-half hour before the CLOSING on the purchase. "We don't know if this will save money, but it might..." We're going to talk to Hardball Capital and see what they think..." Maybe the garage will be smaller...."
I'm sure they will let us know- 30 minutes before they do it.
