There is an Article in tonight's News Sentinel about how Matt Kelty is courting the the "Young Crowd". It is a joke of a column on a couple levels. First, Kelty says he is courting Generation X, which is not even correct since Gen Xers are now all at least 32 years old!

Second, why in the heck would young people want a far right ultra conservative bible thumping non-progressive as Mayor?

I read this article, it appears that this event took place in his campaign manager's basement with his campaign manager's kid and friends (at least the names are similar).

If you cant find support in your campaign manager's basement where can you find it?

Must have been a slow news day because this does not seem very newsworthy.

Mr. Kelty claims he is courting the "young crowd", but he is not open to any ideas of helping businesses invest in downtown Fort Wayne, when its visible in recent articles that almost 90% of YLNI is supportive of Harrison Square. That is the "young crowd" that candidates should try to court, and While Mr. Peters has shown a more opened minded approach to the idea, he is in no way for it.

---- MATT KELTY IS THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO FORT WAYNE ------

Young people - register and get out to vote. This election means everything.

Kelty has pulled the NUT JOB card from the deck and there is no way he can win my vote. I will publically criticize him in any way possible if he comes close to election and I suggest anyone else do the same if you want to see progress in Fort Wayne ..... He does not represent the young generation of this community ... he's just jumping on the bandwagon ....

Chris and David are correct.

"..why in the heck would young people want a far right ultra conservative bible thumping non-progressive as Mayor"

A vote for Kelty is a vote for status quo. Fort Wayne needs progress.

Only in Fort Wayne could electing an politically entrenched middle age moderate repulican be considered progressive.

Compared to Kelty a moderate Republican is far left.

Kelty's platform and agenda:
ANTI-EVERYTHING

Kelty would make this REPUBLICAN vote for Tom Henry and that SAYS IT ALL because the idea of Tom Henry as mayor is not a pleasant one.

If Kelty wins the Republican primary (and it is possible). Tom Henry will win the mayors office with Nixon - McGovern type numbers. Republicans will jump ship in record numbers. He would be a good candidate for Student Council President, but Mayor... Are you kidding me?

Oh yes, we are in trouble if that ultra conservative Bible Thumper gets in power. His idea of a vibrant, exciting 21st Century downtown probably involves Friday night high school football games and Easter egg hunts.

Hey, wait a minute...

Mr. Corcoran-

You said "MATT KELTY IS THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO FORT WAYNE"

Well I say: NELSON PETERS IS THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO NORTHEAST INDIANA

I also ask that Readers imagine my words in bold red print AND capital letters, which pretty much trumps capital letters alone.

You said: "Kelty has pulled the NUT JOB card from the deck and there is no way he can win my vote."

Well I say: Nelson Peters has pulled the SUPER WHACKO BIZZARO DOUBLE NUT JOB card from the deck and there is no way he can win my vote.

You said: "I will publically criticize him [Kelty] in any way possible if he comes close to election and I suggest anyone else do the same if you want to see progress in Fort Wayne"

Well I say: I will publically criticize him [Peters] AND HIS DOG in any way possible if he comes close to election and I suggest anyone else do the same if you want progress in Fort Wayne and PEACE AND PROSPERITY IN OUR TIME!

You said: "He [Kelty] does not represent the young generation of this community"

Well I say: He [Peters] does not represent the human beings of this community.

You said: "He's [Kelty's] just jumping on the bandwagon"

Well I say: He's [Peters'] just beating a dead horse, switching horses in mid-stream, marching to the beat of a different drummer, dancin' with the one that brung 'im, AND jumping on the bandwagon.

Although my task was a difficult one, due to your clear, dispassionate reasoning, thorough and accurate recitation of pertinent facts, and gentle use of humor, it is pretty clear that I bested you in this exchange and my position carries the day. It has, however, been an honor to engage in such a high-handed exchange of ideas, without resort to petty name-calling or meaningless conclusory assertion. We can only hope that the debate which is to follow will aspire to the standard we have set.

Your fellow student of advanced logic and argument,

Tony

I question how Kelty can advocate himself as the younger generation's candidate, when he is adamantly against Harrison Square. If one thing is certain, that is one proposal for which the young generation has clealy voiced its support. Is his platform that he supports us, and knows what we want more than we do? I'm being a little facetious, but that is an honest question.

Matt has no experience, doing this sort of thing, period

He supports nothing that ft Wayne needs to do to be competitive.
He draws his sob claims on a story in Indy that has zero parallels. He has a hidden personal agenda based on his religeon and morals.
If I wanted that I would live in Iran.
Maybe we should filter fort waynes internet as well.

It is a fact the most of the "young crowd" is in favor of some type of downtown development, most notably Harrison Square. Young people, including myself actually want something that we can be proud of, and set Fort Wayne apart from other cities that are similar. Matt Kelty was not open to the idea from the beginning, not because he is against developing downtown, but because he takes stands on issues that are more popular with the voters. The smoking ban, harrison square, SOBs, etc. Anybody can do that, it takes a real leader to take stands that they truly believe in, not just what is going to get him elected. We need someone who is open to new ideas...

Shame on him for taking on issues that are popular with the voters. What does he think this is, a damn democracy?

Kelty is not up for this job. No way no how. He must be most popular with those who dont know him that well.

I wish young people would register in large numbers to vote against him because he will move this city backwards.

Shree,

If Fort Wayne elects Matt Kelty Mayor, they will definitely solidify their their ranking as one of the U.S.'s dumbest cities.

Barranda...to answer your question, Mr. Kelty is against Harrison Square on the basis that he is working on a quiet development deal, with individuals from out-of-state. Mr. Kelty's multiplex sports arena will bring more people than the baseball stadium. More info. to come.

One thing I do agree one is the limiting of churches, we need the next mayor to outlaw new church development, until more economic development is taken.

Anonymous,

I am calling B.S. on your Kelty claim. LOL. However, he is so completely desperate to win, I could definitely see him floating this sort of thing.

That statement is as dumb as your move in the sectionals of '84. You know what I'm talking about.

Anonymous -

Thats great, a multiplex sports arena will look nice next to the ball diamond. I'm sure that he'll do a excellent job as the Architect, but not as the facilitator.

Peters had 20 plus years to actual make Downtown Fort Wayne shine, and he never has, SO MANY YEARS IN GOVERNMENT! CAN HE REALLY DO SOMETHING? I do find it interesting that Donald Rumsfeld is actually a good friend of the Peters family. Nelson's father attended college with Rumsfeld. I could just see it now the next security director of Fort Wayne, will be good all Donny boy.

David, you don't even live in Fort Wayne. Go back to Hamilton, in Stueben County, where you live and shut the hell up! PEDRO
