"“We are going to do a downtown catalyst project,” said Greg Leatherman, deputy director of development. “We hope it’s for the Harrison Square project, but if it’s not, it will be for another catalyst project.”"
"Acquiring the property does not preclude the City Council from nixing the Harrison Square project, but the city had to move now to purchase the land because of an April 2008 deadline on the $10 million downtown bond the city took out in 2004. At least $4 million of that bond was always earmarked for a large revitalization project. The city will also need to begin demolition soon to make way for the hotel."
