Extending downtown
http://www.fortwayne.com/mld/journalgazette/news/editorial/17042902.htm
From the article:
"City leaders have had their eyes on the OmniSource property just north of downtown for years. The creation this week of a group that has been asked to come up with a plan for the land is not the first time local leaders imagined better uses for the former scrap yard along Clinton Street across from Science Central. But it’s certain that nothing of benefit to the community will happen to the land without a plan."
"As long ago as the 1980s, city leaders tossed around the idea of building a baseball diamond on the land as part of the Headwaters Park plan."
"The idea of developing the land for community use is nothing new and neither is establishing a task force. But the timing is good given the excitement in the community for downtown development."
