ARCH, city partner to save a bit of history
Loss of historic structures to build Harrison Square will be minimal

From the article:
"Deputy Mayor Mark Becker explained Harrison Square to ARCH board members several weeks ago. ARCH’s subsequent support for a project that could raze more old homes than anything else in recent memory is testament to both sides’ pragmatism and good sense. Quinn knows a more-vibrant downtown would ultimately benefit the historic West Central neighborhood and other older residential areas. City officials’ willingness to work with ARCH demonstrated sensitivity and avoided creating another critic for a project that already has its share."
"[Quinn] hopes the city will minimize the project’s impact on places such as the Embassy Theatre and West Central. That might mean moving Harrison Square back from Jefferson Street to allow a clear view of the Embassy, and securing grants to improve the exterior of homes that will remain on the west side of Ewing Street."
