Yes, we're very excited about this and other opportunities downtown. It's an exciting time, no?
But let me make clear that I have no ill will towards St. John's ELC. I love the fact that FW is affectionately called the City of Churches, and that many of these wonderful churches still remain in the center city (sadly, many have fled to the burbs). While we're new to the neighborhood, St. John's has been there for over 150 years! And thank God for it! Indeed, I support it's mission "to share together God's love with all people." And I even support it's potential growth. Just not at the expense of these historic buildings! It's a simple matter of having to choose between, in my opinion, two admirable goals.
The landmark designation approach was not my idea, and I'm not completely thrilled by the idea (I prefer to give the market as much freedom as possible). But I do plan to support it in this case as a necessary means to preservation. If it doesn't happen, don't worry, you won't find me chaining myself to the buildings ala Greenpeace.
How many of the Harrison Square supporters (myself included) have also "fled to the burbs" as you put it?
Sorry, anonymous, if were you asking me a question, I'm not quite sure how to answer it.
