"People wishing to get a closer look and offer their opinions about the newest Harrison Square details will have their chance tonight.

Hardball Capital and Barry Real Estate, two of the private investors in the $120 million public private project, are having an open house to present the latest conceptual drawings for the ballpark, condominiums and retail."

"Jason Freier, Hardball CEO, said the meeting is intended to give residents a chance to see what the project will look like and offer opinions on how to improve it."

"The biggest updates, however, will be for the condo and retail structures, Freier said. He said the groups presentation tonight will include floor plans of a typical condominium plus an animated flythrough of the condo building."

"Freier said because they are early enough in the design work, suggestions for how to improve the look of the project can be incorporated. "

"They're looking for your input and opinions, and in turn you'll be able to look at the latest designs for Harrison Square, which will include a new baseball stadium, a Courtyard by Marriott hotel, a parking garage, condos and retail stores.

The meeting starts 5:30 P.M. and should go until about 8 in the Grand Wayne Center on W. Jefferson Boulevard.

This comes as construction crews are tearing down properties within the Harrison Square site. Bill's Palace Restaurant off Harrison Street was torn down yesterday. In its place will go the parking garage. The old Belmont Beverage headquarters at Jefferson and Harrison was demolished last week. That site is set for the Marriott Hotel."

I commend Hardball for conducting this meeting. I feel they are making legitimate attempts to garner public input on this project.

Andy - Isn't it a little late to garner public input - IT'S A DONE DEAL - they are just trying to get the citizens of our town to accept the screwing we are getting! No Thanks! John B. Kalb

The input being gathered is for how the project should look and feel and integrate into its surroundings.

The discussion of whether or not the project should happen has already been concluded. City council, as elected representatives of the City of Fort Wayne, decided for this project to move forward.

It's time to make it the best project possible.
