The public is invited to a birthday party in honor of the E. Ross Adair Federal Building and United States Courthouse.

The grand building, once housing both the U.S. Post Office and U.S. District Court, celebrates 75 years of service this month, and a ceremony will be at noon Friday in the second-floor courtroom, with an open house and tours to follow until 3 p.m.

Congress allocated $685,000 for the construction of the building during the Great Depression and construction crews broke ground in September 1931. Construction was completed in October 1932.
