On Broadway, 35-foot tree shines down on neighborhood

"Despite the not-so-festive rain, nearly 200 people gathered in Broadway Plaza on Saturday evening to kick off the holiday season with the lighting of a 35-foot Christmas tree.
Children wearing hats and mittens with parents and grandparents holding umbrellas coped with rain and cold to watch 10,000 colored bulbs illuminate the huge Norway spruce between Chappell’s Coral Grill and the Shine & Hardin Law Offices.
“The neighborhoods represent the strength of our great city, and for that reason (we) want to do everything possible to show our support for the seven great neighborhoods that surround the Broadway Corridor,” attorney Steve Shine said."
