"One of Fort Wayne’s most historic homes is going on the auction block.

The McCulloch House, at 616 W. Superior St., is scheduled to be sold at auction at 6 p.m. Sept. 27 by Kruse International Auction Co. of Auburn.

Built in 1843 by city father Hugh McCulloch, who served as Abraham Lincoln’s comptroller of the currency and secretary of the Treasury, the house – just south of the St. Marys River – is among the oldest in Fort Wayne.

It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and is a Local Historic District, according to Don Orban, historic preservation specialist for the city of Fort Wayne."
