Drawing Up The Courtyard

City asks for design work on new hotel
Harrison Square walkway not set

"The Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission unanimously approved a notice to proceed to White Lodging Services, the hotel developer, to begin construction drawings for the Courtyard by Marriott.
...
Greg Leatherman, city redevelopment director, said negotiations are going well on the walkway. He said the location, design and historical preservation for the walkway have been agreed to in general, but the city is still working to make sure its costs are accurate.

The city originally set aside $1 million to construct the walkway, yet Leatherman declined to say whether the cost of the project was still within that budget. City officials have said numerous times the walkway was a deal breaker for the hotel developers. Because the financing for Harrison Square is partly reliant on taxes paid by the hotel, the entire deal would have died without it."
