does this zoning change mean no new strip clubs downtown, to visit after the game? what about another hooters? just what kind of character is downtown to maintian to attract "the right type" of people? rush street in chicago? bourbon street in New orleans? Downtown Vegas, or RENO?
Greenwich Village/SOHO in NY?
Hollywood and vine? Or any of a hundred other brightly lit, with neon, nightspot areas of cities around the globe. Lets become global, and universal- sure to attract more people to FTW?
what is the target market demographic of 1. people likely to party after the games. and 2 people likely to party downtown with hundreds of cops swarming around at the nearby PDHQ, waiting to arrest everybody? unless the Police change their tactics from "heavy handed law enforcement" to "Party safely, sanely, responsibly- dont cause problems, dont be stupid, but we're here to help you if you're in trouble", Downtown is doomed to fail.
And what about church /state issues regarding churches vis a vis other "businesses"? if you cant have a bar or liquor store, or licensed establishment within 1000 feet of a church, school, or residence, then that pretty wel rules out anything downtown? or we could revise the zoning code, to erase the special preferences given to churches- who dont hold services in the PM/prime time for downtown fun; nor schools- same reason. and residences- isnt it a choice where you live- downtown nightlife/ close to work vs quiet urban/suburban culdusac?
just pondering these points.
thank you.
