From Council

BILL Number R-08-02-02 (full text, courtesy Fort Wayne Observed)

"A Resolution approving Resolution 2008-05 by the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission, adopted January 31, 2008, for the Lease of 2.65 acres of land owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway."
Greg Leatherman commented on the Resolution and noted that the Harrison Square site was predicted to not provide sufficient storage space for construction needs. An agreement was reached with Norfolk Southern to lease their land south of the tracks near Harrison Square for a year and into the next year if needed.

Councilman Pape asked if there was a possibility to acquire the land or to create an agreement with the railroad to improve the property in question. Leatherman, like during the Redevelopment Commission meeting, stated that the railroad was open to leasing the land but not so much about selling it. Leatherman also noted that the company was looking at taking down a building on the property along Harrison Street.

Also, coming up next week:
Bill Number R-08-02-07 (full text) - A CONFIRMING RESOLUTION designating an "Economic Revitalization Area" under ID 6-1.1-12.1 for property commonly known as 301 West Jefferson Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802 (Barry Real Estate). Public hearing to be held before Fort Wayne Common Council on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2008 at 5:30 PM.
Kudos to Councilman Harper for providing the full text of the Resolutions.
